Hermitage Limestone not only stays on the cutting edge of technology with it's quarrying equipment but in many other aspects as well. Hermitage utilizes a quadcopter (drone) with advanced software programs to generate 3D maps of it's operations.
These 3D maps along with the drones footage and live feeds are used to help ensure Hermitage has the smallest possible impact on the environment, design better quarrying benches, monitor remote workings, ensure safety protocols are being followed and even carry out stockpile calculations with very minimal margins of error. Hermitage offers these services to other interested quarries or organizations.

In 2015 & 2016, Hermitage Limestone Ltd. hosted the YTEPP Heavy Machinery Operations programme in defined areas of it's quarry site. This allowed the YTEPP trainees to get actual on-site experience in the environments where they would eventually work in.
Hermitage has a dedicated "Training Room" at the quarry which YTEPP was able to utilize. This training room, Hermitage has freely opened to anyone wishing to do training or presentations with relevance to the quarrying sector.
Hermitage also allowed the trainees the opportunity to interact with their experiences operators and use Hermitage's equipment under their supervision to gain more real-world experience.

Hermitage Limestone has invested in the first CAT rock drill to be deployed into the Caribbean. Hermitage expects the MD5075 to reliably improve it's blasting capacity through new technology and serviceability by Trinidad's CAT dealership, Massy CAT.
Not afraid of being first again, Hermitage purchased the first CAT 390D LME excavator in the Caribbean. This 390D is factory fitted with a quick coupler changer system, allowing the 390D to swap from it's massive bucket to a ripper configuration greatly increasing it's break-force in only a couple of minutes. Hermitage additionally added a new CAT 980H Wheel Loader to increase it's customer truck loading capacity.
On September 11th, 2013, Hermitage Limestone Ltd. was formally commissioned.

With constant plant upgrades, Hermitage needed to improve it's material transport capacity to keep up with the high volume crushers. To meet this capacity, Hermitage purchased the first fleet of 4 CAT 740B articulated trucks. These high capacity articulated trucks are the largest in Trinidad.
At the time of it's installation, this trommel screen was the largest trommel known to be installed in the Western hermisphere with only one other of this size which is installed in the UK. This screen is manufacturer rated at an impressive 1000 tons/hour.
We installed this trommel to help remove overburden, phyllites, and fines from excavated material prior to crushing which results in better quality of final products for the consumer.
In 2008, a relatively unstable economic period, Hermitage Limestone made the forward thinking decision to invest in the first new CAT 385C LME excavator in the country, which greatly aided production when economic conditions improved. This 385C LME was also the largest excavator in Trinidad.
