Introduction
When the Hermitage estate with its abandoned quarry came on the market, the principals of Hermitage Limestone Ltd. decided to become involved since we felt that as a result of our considerable experience in the quarrying industry, we would be able to effectively establish and operate a quarry while at the same time following the guidelines set out by the Northern Range Hillside Development Policy. We firmly believe that we can help address the shortfall of aggregate in Trinidad & Tobago whilst lessening the dependency on illegal quarrying which is responsible for considerable environmental damage.
Location
Located some 6 miles from the Eastern Main Road East of Arima. Hermitage Limestone stands tall amongst the clouds at over 1200 feet high within the Northern Range. With the Arima River Valley to the west and the Aripo River Valley to the east, the "Quarry in the Clouds" spans over 42 Hectares of land. Geological investigations have revealed a ridge of blue limestone occupying the eastern part of the Hermitage Estate.
quality
The blue limestone deposit that Hermitage Limestone extracts from is among the highest quality available in Trinidad. Having this high quality deposit with one of the most advanced and high production quarry plants and equipment fleet results in the best quality crushed limestone aggregate on the local market. Samples taken from Hermitages production has consistently met international specifications in quality.
The Cutting edge of tech.
Hermitage is one of the first quarries to deploy drones into its operations which assists in monitoring and stockpile quantifying.
Our CAT 390D and 385C excavators are fitted with quick release couplers, allowing them to quickly switch from their buckets to a ripper configuration. This results in greater break-out force which in turn means less blasting is needed, reducing vibrations, dust and noise.
